Jaume Armengol i Coll (Inca, 1938). Pharmacist, politician, and writer.

With a degree in Pharmacology obtained in Barcelona, he was head of the Pharmacology Section of the Enciclopèdia Catalana from 1967 to 1968. In 1996, he received the City of Palma – Gabriel Maura Prize for the novel Els dies (published in 1998) and, in 1967, the Les Illes de Cantonigròs Prize for the collection of poems El Caminant Perdut, which was published in 1977. As a result of his cultural and political activism he was elected president of the Inca delegation to the civic and cultural institution Obra Cultural Balear (1976-1979). He was also first deputy mayor, president of the commissions for the Treasury, Culture, and Health, of the Inca Council (1979-1982), and mayor of Inca (1991-1995). Moreover, he is author of the novels Que la terra et sigui lleu (2002), Ombres de tardor (2008), Camí de Tofla (2010), and L’agonia dels noms (2016), all of which are characterised by a marked component of historical, social, and family research. As an essayist, he has published the title Socialisme i Nacionalisme (2002) and, together with Antoni Armengol, La repressió a Inca: la República i la guerra civil (2005) and La repressió a Inca. Noves aportacions (2018).

He is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
