Ramon Breu (l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelonès, 1956) now lives between l'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Olost de Lluçanès. He has a degree in Contemporary History from the University of Barcelona and a diploma in Sociology from ICESB (Barcelona Catholic Institute for Social Studies). He is presently working as a secondary school teacher and coordinates the Cinescola Project, a Catalan language website devoted to education in audiovisual communication.
He is a specialist in media education and a teacher trainer, in addition to writing several books and articles on education. His long career in the field of cinematographic education began with film clubs in the 1970s and in promoting the audiovisual culture at the grassroots level.
He has been awarded several prizes for his contributions in the domain of education. He writes for the reviews Aula de Secundària and Perspectiva Escolar, as well as working with Memorial Democràtic (Democratic Memory), the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia, the Rosa Sensat Teachers Association and Docs Barcelona. One of his areas of work brings together education, cinema and knowledge of history.
He has published the fictional works El cine de Claudia (2014) and Valents aventurers de la nit (2015), both of which are for young readers, and the novels La Mirada del Voltor (2013), Històries secretes (2014), La veritat no serveix de res (2016) and Temps de plom (2018), whith which the author reflects on the reluctance to give due respect to personal and collective memory.
He is a member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
