Pere Rovira i Planas (Vila-seca, 1947). A poet, prose writer, and literary critic, he graduated from the University of Barcelona in 1973 with a degree in Philosophy and Letters. He continued his literary studies in Paris at the Vincennes University and, in 1983, obtained a PhD in Philology with a thesis on the work of Jaime Gil de Biedma.

After a career of more than thirty years at the University of Lleida, where he teaches Spanish Literature and specialises in modern poetry, he continues this professional relationship as Emeritus Professor, as well as heading the "Poetry Classroom" and the collection "Versos". He also lectures in the master's degree in Literary Creation at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona.

In addition to his work as a teacher, he also ventures into the field of musical lyrics, and is a regular contributor to the dailies and magazines La Vanguardia, Avui, Segre, La Mañana, Lletra de Canvi, Ínsula, and Quimera, among others.

He made his debut as a poet originally writing in Spanish, after which he published the essential part of his work—a series of poetic works, collections, and personal anthologies—which was always written in Catalan. As a prose writer, he has published in the domains of literary essay, novel, and diaries. His novel L'amor boig (2007) received the City of Barcelona Prize. As a translator, he stands out for his Catalan versions of works by Charles Baudelaire.

He is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
