Joan Perucho (Barcelona, 1920 – 2003). Poet, novelist, art critique and columnist. Considered one of the most excelled writers of the Catalan literature of the 20th century, he wrote poetry, poetic prose, short narration, novel, journalistic articles, art critics, traveler's books and memories. All his work shares a single and very personal voice, with fantastic myths, mysterious worlds and numerous references intended for an educated public.

At 27, he published his first book of poems, Sota la sang (1947), and in 1956 his first short story Amb tècnica de Lovecraft. But it is not until the 1980s that he received popular success, with the republishing of the novel Les històries naturals (1960), translated into more than 15 languages, and also with the publication of Les aventures del cavaller Kosmas (1981), awarded the Ramon Llull, the Nacional de la Crítica Catalana and the J. Creixells. Regarding poetry, one could emphasize Quadern d'Albinyana (1983), awarded with the Cavall Verd from the Catalan writers. He also published articles compilations such as La meva visió del món (1998) and La darrera mirada (2001).

He was awarded the Premi Nacional de la Crítica (1981), the Premi Nacional de Literatura (1995) and the Medalla d'Or al Mèrit Artístic de l'Ajuntament de Barcelona (2001), amongst others. He was Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, a member of the Acadèmia de les Bones Lletres de Barcelona, and a member of honor of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana. In 2020, the Government of Catalonia and the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes have promoted the commemoration of the centenary of his birth.
