Gaspar Jaén i Urban (Elx, Baix Vinalopó, 1952). Architect, University Professor and Poet.

From his poetry, deeply attached to his city, one could highlight the collections Cambra de mapes (1982), awarded the Recull-Ribas i Carreres Prize, La Festa (1982), awarded the Ciutat de Palma Prize for poetry, Fragments (1991), awarded the Vicent Andrés Estellés Prize, Del temps present (1998), awarded the Vicent Andrés Estellés and the Crítica dels Escriptors Valencians prizes, Pòntiques (2000), awarded the Ausiàs March, the Crítica dels Escriptors Valencians and the Cavall Verd Josep M. Llompart prizes for poetry, and Estellesiana (2007). He has published several research and popular science books on the anthropology and the landscape and urban planning of his region and that of the Valencian Community, examples include Qüestions territorials al País Valencià (1979), Guia de l'arquitectura i l'urbanisme de la ciutat d'Elx (1989), Les palmeres del migjorn valencià (1992), La vila i el raval d'Elx (1999), De les Clarisses al Salvador: migdia i llevant de la vila l'Elx, arquitectura i urbanisme (2012), Elx, barris dels segles XVIII, XIX i XX: arquitectura i urbanisme (2015), and Formació d'una ciutat moderna de grandària mitjana: Elx, 1740-1962 (2017), among others.

Jaén is a member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC, Association of Catalan Language Writers).
