Josep FaulíJosep Faulí (Barcelona, 1932-2006) was a journalist, critic and literary historian who taught at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona and was also director of the newspaper Avui and press chief of the Generalitat Government) of Catalonia.

As a journalist, his production was both very extensive and significant. In 1956 he was director of Paseo, after which he worked with publications like El Correo Catalán (editor 1958-59) and was subsequently editor and literary critic (Catalan literature), department head and editor-in-chief of Diario de Barcelona (1960-1976), and director of Algo between 1962 and 1964. Moreover, he worked with reviews and newspapers such as Serra d'Or (after 1965), Tele-estel (1966-1970), La Vanguardia (1977-1992), El Periódico (after 1979) and Avui (1980-85), the last of which he was director from 1976 to 1977, and then again in 1986. Also significant is his work as press chief in the Office of the President of the Government of Catalonia, first with Josep Tarradellas in 1978 and, subsequently, with Jordi Pujol, from 1981 to 1984. ??Along with this tireless professional activity, Josep Faulí published some thirty books as well as writing prologues and pieces for collective works and editing a number of volumes. Outstanding among his literary studies are Calaix de crític (The Critic's Drawer, 1973), the Diccionari de catalans de ficció (Dictionary of Catalans in Fiction, 1995) and the books De Simenon a Maigret (From Simenon to Maigret, 1989) and Novel·la catalana i guerra civil (The Catalan Novel and Civil War, 1999). He was part of the jury for the "Recull" Prizes of Blanes and was one of the main promoters of the "Lletra d'Or" Prize.

With his immense capacity for rigorous work, Josep Faulí always acted with great feeling for his country, both during the Franco dictatorship as well in the democratic period. His book Catalans de biaix (Catalans on the Bias, 2007) was published posthumously.

He was a member of AELC (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
