Klaus Ebner (Vienna, 1964) is an Austrian writer, a narrator, novelist and essayist in German, and a poet in German and Catalan.
He has a degree in Romance and German Philology from the University of Vienna. As autodidact, he learned the Catalan language. He translates Catalan and French literature to German and publishes essays on Catalan topics in Austrian and German magazines. In addition, he works as an IT project manager.
He was twice awarded the Youth Prize for Literature of an Austrian bank (in 1982 and 1988) and won the Wiener Werkstattpreis (2007) and the Second Short Prose Award of the Austrian writers' association ÖSV (2010). Ebner published his first book of Catalan poems in 2009.
He is a member of the Catalan writers' body Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana and of the Austrian Grazer Autorinnen Autorenversammlung and Österreichischer Schriftstellerverband.
