Jordi Castellanos (Tagamanent, 1946 - Barcelona, 2012) was an essayist, literary critic and literary historian. He was Professor of Catalan Philology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and is a specialist in Catalan Modernism.

He began studying Romance Languages at the University of Barcelona in 1965 and was a member of the Sindicat Democràtic d'Estudiants (Democratic Students Union). After obtaining his degree in 1970, he presented his dissertation on Raimon Casellas and this was eventually published as the book Raimon Casellas i el Modernisme (Raimon Casellas and Modernism, 1983). Following the crisis and closing down of Enciclopèdia Catalana (Catalan Encyclopaedia), the publishing house Edicions 62 commissioned him to finish a work he had already begun, Guia de Literatura Catalana Contemporània (A Guide to Contemporary Catalan Literature, 1973) and he also left for England, where he worked as a reader in Spanish and Catalan at Durham University. The following year, he joined the University of Barcelona as a lecturer in Catalan Literature, a position he continues to hold. Notable among his other publications are Literatura, vides, ciutats (Literature, Lives, Cities, 1997) and Intel·lectuals, cultura i poder (Intellectuals, Culture and Power, 1998).

He was one of the founders of the review Els Marges, of which he has been director, along with Josep Murgades, since 1990. He has been a member of the Verdaguer Society since 2002, a full member of the Institute of Catalan Studies (Historical-Archaeological Section) since 2003 and a member of AILLC (International Association of Catalan Language and Literature). Since 2005 he has been an adviser to the TNC (National Theatre of Catalonia).

He was a member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
