Anna Casassas (Barcelona, 1958) is a writer and translator. After obtaining a Law degree she worked as a lawyer for seven years in Figueres until she left the profession to become a full-time literary translator from French and Italian to Catalan.

Her translation from the original French of Jan Potoki's book The Manuscript Found in Saragossa was awarded the "Mots Passants" (Passing Words) Prize by the Autonomous University of Barcelona for the best translation published in Catalan in 2009.

She speaks at seminars and writes articles for a range of publications. One of her outstanding pieces is "Diari d'una traductora" (A Translator's Diary), which was published in the review RELS in 2007.

The publishing house Cafè Central has brought out the booklet El ritme de la poesia (The Rhythm of Poetry) based on a lecture she gave at the awards ceremony of the Sixth Jordi Domènech Prize for Poetry Translation. In 2010, she received the Vidal Alcover Prize for Translation from the Tarragona City Council for her rendering of Giordano Bruno's La cena de le ceneri (The Ash Wednesday Supper). In 2016 she was awarded the Trajectòria Prize from Setmana del Llibre en Català. In today’s literary scene, Anna Casassas is one of the best known and most outstanding translators into Catalan.

She is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
