Alfred Giner Sorolla (Vinarós, 1919-2005) choosed early to make a career in science, but he never gave up his keen interest in literarure, one that was inspired by the vision of mankind rooted deeply in the humanist movements of the 20th Century.
Considered an expert in the field of cancer prevention, Giner Soler collected various of his articles and essays on scientific and cutural themes in his books Un nou gènesi (1983), Els fets dels temps (1997) and Orígenes. Del big bang al tercer milenio (1999), among others.
He composed five volumes of poetry, outstanding of which are Dol duen les flames (1972, with an introduction by Joan Fuster) and Amunt i avall (1980). Both books were included in a single edition published in 1994 unde the title Obra poètica. He returned to his hometown after a life spent researching cancer at a number of institutions around the world.
He was an honorary member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC, Association of Catalan Language Writers).
