Mercè Climent, who was born in Alcoi in 1981, presently lives in Gandia (La Safor). An agronomist engineer, she has a degree in Hispanic Philology and combines her work as a writer with that of editor with Lletra Impresa Edicions.
She writes for children and adults, always striving to create beauty with words. She has published the children’s books Lina Panxolina i el quadern màgic, Marc i el poder sobre el temps, La Flauta màgica, Moros i Cristians, El misteri dels Reis d’Orient, and Murta i els minairons (winner of the Second Altea Award for Children’s and Young People’s Literature); the novels Somiant amb Aleixa (winner of the Twelfth Vall d’Albaida Prize for Erotic Literature), and No hi havia a València...; the short stories “Amor a la ciutat dels ponts”, “Mariola”, “Ah!, bella reina”, and “Amic i Amat...”; the collection of poems Infinitamant (Tenth Ibn Jafadja d’Alzira Prize for Poetry); and many other stories that have appeared in magazines, newspapers, and jointly authored books.
She has also been published in the anthologies Nova poesia alcoiana. Poemes entre telers, 14+1. Llenya Prima, Els caus secrets. Antologia d’escriptors dels Països Catalans posteriors al 1972, Entre dones, La improbable vida de Joan Fuster, and Assassins Valencians. Some of her poems have been translated into German for the cultural and literary magazine Driesch.
Moreover, she has translated into Catalan the collection of poems by Jordi Botella i Joan Antoni Climent Fullana (her father) titled Arxipèlag, and an anthology of poems by Gloria Fuertes, which she herself selected for the book Açò no és un llibre, és una dona.
She is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
