Joan Biscarri Gassió (El Palau d’Anglesola, 1953) lives in Balaguer (La Noguera) and is a teacher and writer.
With an Arts degree from the University of Barcelona and a PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, he was a lecturer and professor in the Department of Education and Psychology at the University of Lleida –teaching Education, Psychopedagogy, and Tourism, as well as in postgraduate, master’s degrees, and PhD programmes– from 1981 until he retired in 2020. He has published articles and academic books on psychology and education and was head of the Department of Education and Psychology, and Vice-Chancellor for Culture at the University of Lleida.
In the literary domain, he attended the Barcelona Athenaeum School of Writing and, since his retirement, he has won several prizes for the short story in literary competitions.
He has published the novel No ho diguis a ningú (Editorial Neopàtria, 2022) and the short story collection Ara sí que... (Consell Insular d’Eivissa, 2022) as well as writing about literature for the press, radio programmes, and television.
He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Lleida-Ponent branch of Òmnium Cultural and also Paer (Councillor) for Culture of the Paeria de Balaguer.
He is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
