Meritxell Martí i Orriols (Sabadell, 1972) is a writer and lecturer in Art and Literature at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). She studied Humanities and completed a PhD at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
She has published some thirty books for children and young people, some of which have been translated into Bulgarian, French, Greek, Italian, Korean, Portuguese and Turkish. She is an entrepreneur in publishing ventures and also works in tandem with the illustrator Xavier Salomó on creative projects. Notable among her books are L'île aux 160 erreurs (The Island of 160 Errors, 2011), 10 ciutats i 1 somni (10 Cities and 1 Dream, 2011), Una nit bestial (A Bestial Night, 2008), 10 viatges i 1 somni (10 Journeys and 1 Dream, 2010) and Uns tigres petits, petits com mosquits (Some Tiny Tigers, Tiny as Mosquitoes, 2010). In 2004 she was awarded the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital Prize for the Story for her book Paper de diari (News Paper).
She is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
