Salvador Iborra (Valencia, 1978 – Barcelona, 2011). Poet, journalist and teacher.
With a degree in Catalan Philology from the University of Valencia, he wrote for the cultural supplement “L’Espira”, of Diari de Balears, as well as writing literary works and teaching. After 2009 he lived in Barcelona where he studied for a master’s degree in Literature, Art and Thought at the Pompeu Fabra University.
His first collection of poems was published in the jointly-authored work Arran de terra. 12 poemaris (1998), and he also published the collections, Un llençol per embrutar (2003, winner of the Betúlia Prize for Poetry of Badalona), Les entranyes del foc (2005, winner of the Domènec Perramon Prize for Poetry), and Els cossos oblidats (2009, winner of the Jaume Bru i Vidal Prize for Poetry).
In 2011, Salvador Iborra was murdered in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. Since 2018, the Association of Catalan Language Writers, the Catalan Youth Agency, and the Balearic Institute for Youth, have organised the Salvador Iborra Young Art of Poetry competition in homage to the young Valencian poet.
