Ricard Creus i Marzo (Barcelona, 1928 - 2021). Writer and painter. In 1952, he decided to devote all his efforts to literature. He starts working on poetry, with the publication of 36 poemes a partir del 36 (36 Poems After 36, 1978). He also wrote novels for children and young people, for example his celebrated Pa amb xocolata (Bread and Chocolate, 1982) and El gos i l'oreneta (The Dog and the Swallow, 1983).
As a novelist, his most recognized works are L’ocell, (The Bird, 1985 October Prize), Posicions (Positions, Sant Jordi Prize 1987) and Vol Barcelona-Mèxic (Flight Barcelona-Mexico). In 1992, he was awarded the Rosa Leveroni Poetry Prize for his Retornar a Itàlia (Return to Italy). He has also written plays, critical reviews and essays, in particular in the field of the plastic arts.
He was an honorary member of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
