Joan Climent (Montitxelvo, 1918 - Gandia, 2004) was a poet and novelist. After an early period in the post-war years when he published some books in Spanish, he decided to write in his own language, after which he received considerable critical recognition. His first book in Catalan, Notícia de murmuris (News in Murmurs –1989) was highly praised by such poets and critics as Marc Granell and Josep Ballester. He then wrote the novel La "delicà" de Gandia (“Delicate” Gandia – 1994) and the poetry collections Contraclaror (Against the Light – Barcelona, 1994) and Els colors de l'arc iris (The Colours of the Rainbow, 2001).
In 2001, he was given the Freedom of the City of Gandia, and in 2003 was named honorary member of the AELC.
