English

Toni Villalobos (Sant Jaume d'Enveja, Montsià, 1953) is a primary school Catalan and Spanish teacher. Throughout his career he has led and promoted several projects to encourage reading, both in the school where he works and giving talks in libraries, bookshops and leisure centres, a task with which he is still engaged. He has also participated in several initiatives of reader sponsorship with his pupils.

He has published the following books for young people: El Foc de la Nit (Fire in the Night, 2000), M'avorreixo, va dir en Pol (I'm Bored, Pol Said, 2002), El Pop dels Nou Tentacles (The Octopus with Nine Tentacles, 2002), Lluny de l'altiplà (Far from the Plateau, 2007), Juls, Juliette (2008) and Arnau, no t'aturis! (Don't Stop, Arnau!, 2013).

Since his first book appeared in 2000, Toni Villalobos has been visiting some twenty schools in Catalonia and Andorra every year to speak with the children who have read his books, to exchange views and communicate with his young readership.

Another of his activities is his personal and professional blog, in which he seeks to establish a channel of communication between his readers and his work and also to create a space of shared projects and a meeting place with other writers and illustrators.

He is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
