Pep Tort (named Josep after his grandfather and godfather, who was a teacher) was born in Manresa in 1957. He has a degree in Education from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has also done courses in contemporary dance and commedia dell'arte (Extemporal Comedy) at the Institute of Theatre in Barcelona and that of Vic, as well as voice training, singing, percussion and classes in circus techniques. Since the end of the last century he has been engaged in many things: street music, radio work, puppets, recordings of stories and songs. He has told stories and sung and has even offered explanations of how it is done.

He is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
