Montse Subirana Malaret has a PhD in Psychology from the University of Barcelona (UB) where she is presently associate lecturer in the master’s degree course in General Public Health Psychology and the degree in Psychology. She also has a degree from the Open University of Catalonia, where she lectures in Psychology. Moreover, she has a degree in Tourism and a postgraduate degree in New Trends in Leisure and Tourism. In this field, she has mainly worked with the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia (Catalonia Tourism and Catalan Tourism Agency) as well as in the private sphere. She is still working in literary and cultural projects related with territory, history and nature.

The journey and psychology, settings and personalities are present throughout her literary career. She has published the novel Perruca de senglar (2005), a finalist for the 2002 Recull Prize; the short story collection Ens ho hem de fer mirar (2009), which includes a story that was a finalist for the eleventh Terrassa City Council Women’s Fiction literary Competition; Vint-i-dues tardes, dos matins i un vespre amb els avis d’Espinelves (2010); Lapònia (2010); and the mountain guide A peu per camins de càtars, 14 passejades i excursions pel Pirineu català (2010).

She has edited and written for the collection of children’s stories “Contes de comtes” (Arola Editors), with works including Arnau Mir de Tost i els estels màgics (2015), Guislabert de Barcelona i el misteri de la catedral (2015), Ot de Pallars i el secret d’Elisava (2015), Bernat de Besalú i l’enigma del tresor (2016), and Guifré de Cerdanya i les cabòries de mitjanit (2016). Elsewhere, she has published L’espasa d’Huguet de Mataplana (2012) and El tresor dels càtars (2018). Among her other fictional works are El camí de les trementinaires (2009), No tot és al MNAC (2013), and Xocolata desfeta (2017), all three of which were awarded a Special Mention in the Dona-Homilies d’Organyà literary prizes.

She writes regularly for several cultural publications, like the Cadí-Pedraforca review, and she also participates in literary and cultural activities. She is a member of the Pyrenees Book Association.

She is a member of the Association of Catalan Language Writers (AELC).
