Ricard Ruiz Garzón (Barcelona, 1973) is a writer, curator of Festival 42 (Barcelona Festival of Fantastic Genres), and a teacher at the Barcelona Athenaeum School of Writing.
He has published some fifteen coauthored or solo books, among them Esquizo, La Immortal, Herba negra, Mary Shelley i el Monstre de Frankenstein, Mångata, Janowitz and, in 2025, Wollstonecraft. El principi és sempre avui. He has also edited the anthologies Mañana todavía, Insólitas, Extraordinàries, and his work has been published in the anthologies Barcelona 2059 and Tàndems fantàstics. Moreover, he has been a jury member for awards including the Crexells and Joaquim Ruyra prizes, and the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. He has also worked as a cultural journalist for some twenty-five years, for example with TV3, El País, El Periódico, BTV, RAC-1, and Time Out.
His work has been recognised with awards including the Ramon Muntaner, Edebé, and Ictineu prizes, and has been translated into six languages. Some of his books have been adapted for comic format and for the stage and cinema.
He has been a member and secretary of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC), coordinator of QLit, the AELC Festival of Queer Literature, and vice-president of the Catalan Council for Children's and Young People's Books (IBBYCAT-CLIJCAT).
He is a member of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
