Ricard Ruiz Garzón (Barcelona, 1973) is a writer, columnist and teacher in the «Escola d'Escriptura de l'Ateneu Barcelonès», Barcelona Athenaeum School of Writing and also a lecturer in the Master's Degree in Publishing at the Pompeu Fabra University.

He has received prizes for his work, including the 2006 Miradas and 2016 Ramon Muntaner prizes and has published some fifteen books, among them Esquizo (2008), Herba negra (2016), which is co-authored with Salvador Macip, Selfis (2017), co-authored with Saïd El Kadaoui, the series for young people Guardians de Somnis, co-authored with Álex Hinojo, the children's books Quin cap! (2016) i  Deu mascotes i un drac(2019) and the essay Mary Shelley i el monstre de Frankenstein (2018). He has also edited the anthologies Mañana todavía (2015), Risc/El riesgo (2017), or Extraordinàries. Noves autores de l'insòlit (2020), and has stories published in several collective volumes.

Between 1996 and 2016 he worked as a journalist and literary critic for the television channels TV3 (Dellibres, Via Llibre, Els Matins) and BTV (Qwerty), the publications El Periódico (iCult, Llibres), El País (Quadern, Babelia), Time Out, Qué Leer, and the radio stations RAC-1, COM Ràdio, Catalunya Ràdio, RNE and SER.

Moreover, he has been an editorial adviser, vice-president of the Association of Cultural Journalists and a member of juries for literary awards.

From 2017 Ruiz is a member of the Board of Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers, AELC).
