Emili Bayo Juan (Leida, 1961) studied Philology in Lleida where he worked to create literary groups and produce cultural reviews. He has worked as a waiter in London, a librarian’s assistant in Lleida (Biblioteca de l’Estudi General), as a radio announcer, a plasterer, and in many other jobs. After living for a year in Barcelona writing a thesis for his degree, he received a research scholarship in the recently founded University of Lleida, where he obtained his doctorate in 1990 with a thesis on Spanish poetry under the Franco regime. Since then he has worked as a secondary school teacher. For two years he has been co-director of the literary section of the newspaper Segre, and he has published opinion pieces, literary criticism and sports commentaries in different newspapers and journals. He writes novels and short stories.
He is a member of AELC (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
