Montse Barderi Palau

Montse Barderi (Sabadell, 1969) has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and has specialised in journalism and gender studies, an area in which she highlights the mentorship of the philosopher Fina Birulés.

She publishes both fiction (for example La memòria de l'aigua (winner of the 2019 Prudenci Bertrana Prize for the Novel) and La vida autèntica, 2021), and essay (Manual d'amor aristotèlic per a dones del segle XXI, 2020) and often mingles fiction with philosophical reflection. Her writing focuses on the experiences of women, love, and desire.

She also works with the printed press, radio, and television, as well as teaching and giving lectures, courses, and speaking at reading clubs. She belongs to the areas of Lletres a les Aules (Letters in Classrooms) and Lletres en Viu (Letters Live) of the Institution of Catalan Letters. Moreover, she is a jury member for the Prudenci Bertrana Prize for the Novel and the Josep Pla Prize.

She is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
