Jordi Alsina Iglesias. I was born in Argentona in 1977 and some time ago I fell in love with Crete, where I have lived and where I often lose myself. I studied History and Anthropology and, from an early age, have had a close relationship with writing, with which I try to remain in constant dialogue. In 2012 I published my first book, Ta kritikà. Viatge a la música de Creta, an ethnographic approximation to the phenomenon of Cretan music. Three years later, I published my second book (A)ïllat. Històries d’un nàufrag a Creta, a collection of articles about my experiences in Crete from 2006 to 2013. In recent years, my concern has been to make cultural and historical heritage more accessible for young people. Two good examples of this side of my work are the educational studies Petita història de Montgat (2016) and Atles de les festes del foc dels Pirineus (2019), both of which are illustrated by Lluís Ràfols.

For some years now, I’ve been working in formal and non-formal education while also writing for several media outlets (for example, the daily Ara, Sons de la Mediterrània, and National Geographic) as well as continuing to cultivate my interest in popular culture, especially with thoughts about the more modern Greece and its music. Today, apart from trying to make a decent living, I am enthusiastically devoted to being a father.

He is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (Association of Catalan Language Writers – AELC).
