Esther Martínez-Pastor (Barcelona, 1914-2005), a Catalan poet and teacher, was purged by the Franco regime after the Civil War and removed from her post.
In 1954, she started to write poetry privately but did not start publishing her work until the end of the 1980s as a result of encouragement from the poet Josep Colet i Giralt. She continued writing until her death, and published twenty-two collections of poems, which are amenable, intimist, and nostalgic in style, including the volumes Avencs de llum (1991), Les caràtules del somni (1993), and Passadís d’ombres (1995). She was awarded prizes for her work, which is included in several anthologies of Catalan poetry.
She was a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
