Miquel Català (Algemesí, 1961) is the pen name of Miquel Llàtzer who, with a degree in Catalan Philology from the University of Valencia, has been teaching in secondary schools in the Valencia region since the 1986-1987 school year.
He has published the poetry collections Poemes de la nina libèl·lula (Germania, 2012), Poemes de la nina mandarina (Germania, 2014), Cavallet de mar (Neopàtria, 2015), La llum del far (Neopàtria, 2017), La dona del bosc (Neopàtria, 2019), Duna (Neopàtria, 2021) and Carmen lucet in textura. Obra completa inèdita (Neopàtria, 2023). His poems have also appeared in the anthologies Estels de paper. Vint-i-un poetes per al segle XXI (Germania, 2012), La Poesia, una sola veu. I trobada a Vinaròs de la Fundació Caixa Vinaròs (2014), POEMES. I Trobada poètica de l’Editorial Neopàtria (2015), Som amb tu (Tirremis, 2017 – a book published in solidarity with child cancer patients by the Enriqueta Villavecchia Children’s Oncology Foundation), and El vers als llavis: Homenatge a Carles Salvador (Enkuadres, 2019).
He has participated in many solo and joint poetry recitals, taking his poems to any corner of the Catalan-Valencian-Balearic linguistic realms in the company of musicians, singers, and rhapsodes.
He is a member of Acció Cultural del País Valencià (ACPV – Valencian Cultural Action), Xúquer Viu, and Sindicat de Treballadors de l’Ensenyament del PV (STEPV – Valencian Teachers’ Union), and also of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC -Association of Catalan Language Writers).
