Joan-Francesc Castex-Ey

Joan-Francesc Castex-Ey (Perpignan, 1977) is a writer and educator. With a master’s degree in Geography from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, and an Advanced Certificate (C2) in Catalan, he teaches at the French-Catalan Cross-Border Institute at the University of Perpignan, and also gives Catalan language classes for adults.

He is author of the poetry collections La sang i la saba (2008), Salvatge (2010), with a Prologue by Jordi-Pere Cerdà, La matriu (2012), with a Prologue by Jep Gouzy, Ruta major (2014), with a Prologue by Carles Duarte, and Menudall d’ànima (2016). He has also written the play La frescor de les nits (2015) and, notable among his fictional works are Retrat petit de tot i res (2016), winner of the Méditerranée Roussillon Award, El trencament (2018), and L’infant i la ciutat dels tres portals (2020), with a Prologue by Renada-Laura Portet.

Some of his works have been published in French and also in Catalan French Bilingual editions, as Nosaltres els Set Homes. Un cant en clarobscur (2023).

Moreover, he has written several studies on the cross-border geopolitics between the Girona regions and Catalunya del Nord (North Catalonia).

He is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers).
