Daniel Cassany is a tenured lecturer in Discourse Analysis at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He has a degree in Catalan Philology and a doctorate in Educational Sciences from the University of Barcelona. He has published several jointly-authored books on written communication Descriure escriure (Describing Writing); La cuina de l’escriptura (The Cooking of Writing); Reparar l’escriptura (Correcting Writing); Construir l’escriptura (Constructing Writing); Ensenyar llengua (Language Teaching)) in Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese, as well as more than fifty specialist articles on language teaching, writing and discourse analysis. He has taught postgraduate courses, Masters degrees and doctoral studies, in Spanish, European, Latin-American and Japanese universities and has given papers at international congresses. He has also worked with the Ministries of Education in Catalonia, Galicia, Spain, Argentina, Chile and Mexico in promotional programmes for reading and writing and also in teacher training. His research work has been concerned with analysis of scientific divulgation and critical and electronic literacy.
He is a member of AELC (Association of Catalan Language Writers).
