Vicenç Ambrós i Besa (Berga, 1982), a writer, lawyer, and senior management civil servant in the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia, graduated in Law in 2005 after which he obtained a master’s degree in Advanced Legal Studies and a postgraduate degree in Public Law. He gives lectures about administrative law, grants and subsidies, and immigration law, as well as working with the Consumer Arbitration Board of Catalonia as an external arbitrator.

He has received several awards in literary competitions and among his published books are Acta martyrum, (2019 Sebastià Juan Arbó Prize), Asimetria (13th Joan Duch Prize for Poetry for Young Writers in 2011), El llac de les ànimes (2011 Joan Marquès Arbona Prize for Short Stories), Des de la mort amb amor (2007 Vila de l’Ametlla de Mar Prize for Fiction), Mort al Paradís (4th Joescric.com de Novel·la Prize in 2007), and Foc entre dos blaus (2nd Carme Guasch Prize for Poetry in 2005).

He is author of the short story collection Laberints, which was reissued in 2019 by the Association of Storytellers in Catalan. In 2009, as guest town crier, he opened the annual festival of Prats de Lluçanès. He has also worked as a Volunteer for the Language (VxL) and he leads a workshop in creative writing in the Avinyó Library (Bages).

He is a member of the Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC – Association of Catalan Language Writers), the Spanish Reproduction Rights Centre (CEDRO), the Association of Storytellers in Catalan (ARC), the National Assembly of Catalonia (ANC), and Òmnium Cultural.
